Kyndle
Feminine
Kyndle is overwhelmingly a girls’ name — 529 girls against 12 boys since 1880.
There are two verbs spelled kindle in English and they have nothing to do with each other. One is Norse and means to set alight. The other is native and means to give birth to young — which is why a group of kittens is still, in the older books, a kindle of kittens.

The story of Kyndle
The fire verb came from Old Norse kynda and brought kindling with it. The birth verb came from Old English cynd, meaning nature or kind, and it was ordinary for centuries: animals kindled their young, and hunting manuals list a kindle of kittens or of hares among their collective nouns. The second verb faded, leaving the first in sole possession of the spelling. Kendal, the town, is unrelated again: it is the valley of the Kent, an English river with a Celtic name, and it gave its name to a coarse green woolen cloth that Shakespeare mentions and that clothed a good deal of medieval England.

Not established
Kyndle respells either the English word kindle or the surname Kendall, from the town of Kendal in Cumbria, the valley of the river Kent. Neither has been shown to be the source. If it is the word, the family has to decide which of the two kindles they mean, because both exist.

The Liliane test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Kyndle's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Liliane climbed just as high around 1916, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Liliane's path sketches the road Kyndle is walking now.
Kyndle sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
