Our story of Keandre
Our reading rather than the record's. Andrew has been one of the great names of Christendom for two thousand years, and Andre is its French form, carried into American use in the twentieth century. Keandre puts the Ke- prefix in front of it — a prefix that by the 1980s had produced Keshawn, Keon and Kevonte and was doing genuine work. What comes out is a name with an ancient back half and a modern front, joined where a great many American names have been joined. It is a new name that is half as old as the alphabet.

manly, brave
The Andre in it is documented: Greek Andreas, built on andros, a man, borne by the apostle Andrew. Whether Keandre was built deliberately on that name or assembled from the Ke- and -andre pieces that were both in wide American use is not recorded.

The Dimitrios test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Keandre's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Dimitrios climbed just as high around 1976, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Dimitrios's path sketches the road Keandre is walking now.
Keandre sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
