The story of Dimitrios
Demeter's cult at Eleusis ran for well over a thousand years and initiates were forbidden to describe what happened there, which is why we still do not know. Her name produced Demetrios, a common Greek name that became Christian through a fourth-century martyr of Thessaloniki, patron of that city. Dimitrios is the modern Greek form and one of the most-used men's names in Greece; it reaches American records with Greek families.

Dimitrios's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Levern climbed just as high around 1955, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Levern's path sketches the road Dimitrios is walking now.
