Jaymin
Masculine
Jaymin looks like Benjamin with the front removed, and that is one of two plausible readings. The other is Jay plus -min, built from parts. English back-clipping is rare — we normally cut the end off a name, not the beginning — which makes the first reading the more interesting one.

Our story of Jaymin
English clips names from the front: Robert gives Rob, Elizabeth gives Liz and Beth, William gives Will. Cutting from the back — keeping the tail and discarding the head — is much rarer, and when it happens the result usually looks like a new name rather than a short form: Beth from Elizabeth is recognizable, but Xander from Alexander and Tori from Victoria have to be explained. Jaymin sits in that territory. If it is Benjamin back-clipped and respelled, it is a good example of a process English does not have a name for; if it is Jay plus -min, it is an ordinary construction. The 2000 peak does not settle it, and both readings are live among American families.

Not established
Benjamin is Hebrew Binyamin, son of the right hand or son of the south, and that etymology is settled for Benjamin. Whether Jaymin descends from it by back-clipping cannot be shown; the ay spelling suggests a Jay- prefix instead. There is also a Gujarati name Jaymin, from Sanskrit, which is a genuinely separate source. No single reading applies.

The Victorino test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Jaymin's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Victorino climbed just as high around 1928, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Victorino's path sketches the road Jaymin is walking now.
Jaymin sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
