The story of Ezana
Ezana ruled Aksum in the fourth century, and his inscriptions show the change directly: the earlier ones invoke the old gods and the later ones a single God, which makes them among the clearest evidence anywhere for a state conversion. His coins dropped the crescent and disc for a cross. Ethiopia's church dates from his reign. The name is used in Ethiopia and reaches American records with Ethiopian families.

The Romy test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Ezana's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Romy climbed just as high around 1964, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Romy's path sketches the road Ezana is walking now.
Ezana sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
