The story of Danni
Daniel is the exile who reads the writing on the wall, survives the lions and interprets dreams for kings, and the book is at least partly about refusing the authority in front of you on the strength of a higher one. The name spread across every Christian language and stayed in Jewish use throughout. French made the feminine Danielle, English shortened it to Dani and Danni, and by the middle of the twentieth century the short form was appearing on American certificates in its own right.
