Our story of Coralynn
Ours, offered as ours. Cora entered wide American use from The Last of the Mohicans in 1826, and Cooper appears to have taken it from the Greek. The other candidate is the sea coral, which the Greeks called korallion and whose own origin nobody has traced. Coralynn adds a twentieth-century American ending to whichever front a family had. Both ancestors are genuinely old and only one of them is a person.
Meaningscholars disagree
maiden; or coral
Cora is generally read from Greek kore, a maiden, and was popularized by an 1826 American novel. Separately Latin corallium names coral, from a Greek word of unknown origin. The -lynn ending is a modern American suffix.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
