The story of Blanca
Blanche of Castile ruled France as regent for her son Louis IX and again while he was on crusade — one of the most effective regents of the thirteenth century. Spanish and Catalan use Blanca. Spanish-speaking families brought it to the United States, where it appears in the registers and is in current use.
Meaning
white, fair
From the Germanic blank, 'white', 'bright' or 'shining', which the Franks carried into Old French as blanc and thence into Spanish blanca. Latin had albus for white, which Romance largely dropped. The English 'blank' is the same word with a shifted sense.

The Latanya test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Blanca's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Latanya climbed just as high around 1975, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Latanya's path sketches the road Blanca is walking now.
Blanca sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
