The story of Aubreigh
Alberic was a real Frankish name and also the name of the dwarf king in Germanic legend, which is where the elf-ruler reading comes from most vividly. Normans brought it to England as Auberi, and English wrote Aubrey. It was a men's name for eight hundred years and moved to the girls' side in twentieth-century America, at which point the spellings multiplied — Aubree, Aubrie, Aubriegh, Aubreigh — the -eigh ending borrowed from Leigh and Ashleigh.
Meaning
elf ruler
From Germanic Alberic, joining alb, an elf, to ric, a ruler; Norman French made Auberi of it, and English Aubrey. The elf of Germanic belief was a powerful figure rather than a small one.

The Julienne test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Aubreigh's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Julienne climbed just as high around 1960, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Julienne's path sketches the road Aubreigh is walking now.
