The story of Annagrace
The Puritan virtue names entered English naming after the Reformation, when a Protestant reluctance to use saints' names left a gap and abstract nouns filled it. Most did not survive the eighteenth century. Grace did, and the likeliest reason is that it is also a physical quality and an ordinary compliment, so it kept a secular life when Temperance and Constance did not. Faith and Hope have both revived in America since the 1990s; Charity, Prudence and Mercy have not. The double name Anna Grace is a Southern American convention, and fusing it into one word is what happens when a form has no field for a two-word given name. Annagrace peaks in 2002.
Meaning
Hebrew "grace" joined to Latin "grace"
Anna is from Hannah, grace or favor; Grace is from Latin gratia, favor, and entered English as a theological term for unmerited divine favor. The compound therefore says the same thing twice in two languages, which its users are unlikely to have intended. Annagrace is an American fusion of a double name into a single word.
