The story of Anasia
Anastasia was an Easter name in the Greek church exactly as Natalia was a Christmas one, and it spread through the Orthodox world and into Russia, where it became one of the most given women's names. Its most famous bearer is famous for a rumor: the youngest daughter of the last Russian imperial family, killed with the rest in 1918, whose death was doubted for eighty years while a series of women claimed to be her. The best known of them held the claim for half a century and was found after her death not to have been related to the family at all. The name outlived all of it and is ordinary again in Russia and Greece.
Meaningscholars disagree
resurrection; standing up again
If the name is Anastasia shortened, the Greek is anastasis, resurrection, from ana, up, and stasis, standing. If it is built on the -asia ending that American naming took from the place name, it has no meaning at all. Both are live possibilities and the spelling does not choose.

The Blondie test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Anasia's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Blondie climbed just as high around 1942, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Blondie's path sketches the road Anasia is walking now.
Anasia sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- One of its two possible sources has a documented Greek meaning and a long record.
- Three short forms, all of which are full names in their own right.
- Three open syllables with a regular stress pattern.
- The syllable count is genuinely unsettled between three and four.
- Anasia, Anastasia and Anaisa are all in use and mean different things about your intention.
- If the -asia ending is the source rather than the Greek, there is no meaning at all.
