The Hebrew root z-m-r is about music: it gives the word for singing, for a psalm, for pruning a vine — the last because the sound of the shears was heard as a rhythm — and for the nightingale. The Song of Songs uses it in a line about the time of singing arriving. Zamari in American records almost certainly comes from the Amari family instead, and the Hebrew root is worth naming for its own sake.
