Trond is a familiar name in Norway, from the old word for a person from Trøndelag, the region around Trondheim, and Norwegian immigrants brought forms of it to America. The name later gained a science-fiction echo: the film Tron, one of the first to use computer-generated imagery at length, was not even nominated for the visual effects Oscar, and its director said the Academy felt that using computers was a kind of cheating.
