Treyton
Masculine
Treyton takes a card-player's word and gives it an English place-name ending. Trey is three, from the Old French for the number, still used in cards and dice; -ton is the Old English word for a settlement. The two have nothing to do with each other and were joined in American nurseries in the nineteen-nineties.

Our story of Treyton
American naming took the -ton ending off English surnames in the nineteen-eighties and made it available for anything: Peyton and Clayton were real, and then Braxton, Kingston, Jaxton and Treyton followed. Trey was already in use on its own, given to third sons and to anyone whose father and grandfather shared a name. Putting the two together produced something that scans exactly like an English village and comes from no map at all, which is the trick the whole -ton family manages.
Meaningnot established
Not established
The compound is not documented. Trey is genuine: Old French treis, three, borrowed into English for the three in a suit of cards, and used in American English for a third-generation son. The -ton ending is Old English tun, a settlement. Nothing joins them but the ear of the family that did it.

The Marcelino test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Treyton's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Marcelino climbed just as high around 1929, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Marcelino's path sketches the road Treyton is walking now.
Treyton sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
