Our story of Trevon
Our story of Trevon is a story of two halves that found each other. Trevor was common in America by the 1970s, and its front syllable became a usable part; -von and -vion were in circulation at the same time, from Davon, Javon and Devon. Families put them together, and Trevon appears in the registers from the early 1980s, rising for about fifteen years. It is a name with a real history — just a short one, and an American one, and made rather than inherited.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No established etymology. The Tre- element circulates in American names partly through the Welsh tre, 'homestead' — the front of Trevor and Trevelyan — and partly as a free-standing sound. The -von ending is a separate American pattern. The compound is a modern coinage.
