The story of Keon
Ó Cadhain was a Galway and Mayo surname anglicized as Keon and Coyne. Separately, the Ke- and De- prefixes were highly productive in American naming from the 1970s, and Keon appears in the American registers rising from that decade — most bearers descending from the second route rather than the first. It is in current use.

wild goose; ancient
Two accounts. From the Irish Ó Cadhain, from cadhan, 'wild goose' or 'barnacle goose' — anglicized as Keon, Coyne and Kyne. Or a modern American coinage on the Ke- prefix, in the pattern of Keonte and Deon. A Persian Keon, 'ancient', is sometimes also claimed.

The Nancy test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Keon's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Nancy climbed just as high around 1938, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Nancy's path sketches the road Keon is walking now.
Keon sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
