The story of Toriana
Victoria was a goddess with a statue in the Roman senate house, and the argument over whether to remove it in the fourth century was one of the last public fights between Roman paganism and Christianity. The name went quiet for a long time and then one woman's sixty-three-year reign put it on a quarter of the world's map: a state in Australia, a city in British Columbia, the capital of the Seychelles, the largest lake in Africa, the falls on the Zambezi, and a great many streets and stations. That is an unusual amount of geography for one name, and it happened inside a single lifetime. Toriana is built on the clipped form, which is American and recent.
Meaning
victory
Through Tori from Victoria, Latin victoria, victory, from vincere, to conquer — the same verb behind convince, evict and invincible. The -ana ending is a Latin adjectival suffix meaning belonging to, attached here to a clipped name rather than to a family.

The Charese test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Toriana's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Charese climbed just as high around 1971, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Charese's path sketches the road Toriana is walking now.
Toriana sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
