The story of Terron
Akragas, the modern Agrigento, was one of the great Greek cities of Sicily, and Theron ruled it from 488 BC. His victory in the four-horse chariot race at Olympia in 476 was celebrated by Pindar in the second Olympian ode, which survives; the temples his city built in the following decades are still standing on the ridge above the town and are among the best preserved Greek buildings anywhere. The name is the ordinary Greek word for a hunter, from ther, a wild beast, which also gives the English therapsid and the second half of words for beasts in scientific Latin. Its modern American use runs alongside the unrelated Terrell and Terrance, and the spellings have blurred.

Line the two peaks up, and Shigeru's path sketches the road Terron is walking now.
