The story of Teigan
Tadhg was one of the most-used Irish men's names for centuries and means a poet, in the specific sense of the trained professional whose praise or satire could make or ruin a lord. Its diminutive gave surnames. Teagan reached American girls' naming in the 1990s, and the respellings — Teigan, Teagen, Tegan — followed. Welsh Tegan is a separate name that reached the same sound.
Meaningscholars disagree
little poet, or fair one
One reading takes it from Irish Tadhgán, a diminutive of Tadhg, a poet — the professional poet who was a serious figure in Gaelic society. Another connects it to a word meaning fair or beautiful. Neither is settled for the modern name.

The Krishna test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Teigan's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Krishna climbed just as high around 1971, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Krishna's path sketches the road Teigan is walking now.
