The story of Taylan
After 1928 Turkey replaced the Arabic script with the Latin alphabet and set about purging Arabic and Persian vocabulary from the language, and naming followed: families began choosing native Turkish words as given names in place of the Islamic names that had dominated. Taylan, Deniz, Ozan and Ilkay all belong to that project. It is a deliberate modern layer over a very old naming tradition.
Meaning
tall and slender
From Turkish taylan, describing a young man who is tall and well-built; the word is native Turkish rather than an Arabic or Persian borrowing, which was the point of the names coined in the twentieth century.

The Lorenso test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Taylan's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Lorenso climbed just as high around 1950, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Lorenso's path sketches the road Taylan is walking now.
Taylan sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
