Where it comes from

Our story of Tayden

Our story of Tayden is a story of a family with dozens of members. Aiden rose in the 1990s and by 2010 the American registers held Jayden, Brayden, Kayden, Zayden, Hayden, Cayden and Tayden, each with several spellings — one of the largest rhyme groups ever recorded in English naming. Tayden is a later member. The Irish fire god at the root is real; nothing of him reaches this far, and that is the honest account.

Meaningnot established

Not established

No established etymology. The -den ending descends distantly from Aiden and the Irish Aodh, 'fire', but functions here as a sound. The Tay- front circulates from Tyler and Taylor. The compound is a modern American coinage and honest sources do not claim more.

Rank is a position, a count is a headcount, and they move independently — a name can hold its rank while the number of babies behind it falls. Source: U.S. Social Security Administration.

Spellings of Tayden

#1906
Tayden on the 2025 chart
#831
counting every spelling

The SSA counts spellings, not names. Tayden went to 82 boys in 2025, but Taiden is the same name said out loud. Together the 2 spellings went to 97, which makes it the 831st most-given boys’ name of the year — 1,075 places above the chart.

About 1 boy in 17,609 born in 2025 was given one of these spellings — against 1 in 20,830 for Tayden itself.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
