The story of Stevi
Stephanie is the French feminine of Stephen and became very popular in America from the 1960s, reaching the top ten. Stevie is its short form and had a life of its own: Stephanie Lynn Nicks, born in 1948, was called Stevie from childhood and became one of the most recognizable voices in American rock from 1975, first with Fleetwood Mac and then solo. The American birth records for Stevie and its spellings rise through the late 1970s and 1980s, and Stevi peaks in 1986 — well inside her run of solo albums. The -i spelling belongs to the same convention that produced Codi, Jodi and Kimi.
Meaning

The Carmon test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Stevi's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Carmon climbed just as high around 1905, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Carmon's path sketches the road Stevi is walking now.
Stevi sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
