The story of Soren
Severinus was a Roman name carried into Christian use by several saints, including one who worked among the Danube provinces in the fifth century. Danish reduced it to Søren, which became one of the country's most-used men's names. Søren Kierkegaard's work made it internationally recognizable. Its use in American records is small, for both sexes, and belongs with the recent taste for Scandinavian names.
Meaning
stern, severe
From the Roman family name Severinus, built on severus, stern or serious; the same word gives English severe. The Danish development shortened it drastically, as Danish does.

The Lashannon test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Soren's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Lashannon climbed just as high around 1976, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Lashannon's path sketches the road Soren is walking now.
Soren sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
