Masculine · “bull”
Rishabh is a bull, and in Indian thought that is a serious thing to be: the bull stands for strength held steady rather than used. The name also belongs to the first of the twenty-four Jain teachers, and it is the second note of the Indian musical scale, which makes it one of very few names that are also a pitch.

The story of Rishabh
Rishabhanatha is the first Tirthankara in Jain tradition, the teacher who begins the cycle, and he is usually shown with a bull as his emblem; Hindu texts know him too. The word carries the sense of the foremost of a kind, so it appears in compounds meaning the best of sages or the best of men. As a given name it is widely used across Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati-speaking families and came to American records with South Asian migration.

The Rondel test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Rishabh's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Rondel climbed just as high around 1940, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Rondel's path sketches the road Rishabh is walking now.
Rishabh sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
