Our story of Quadir
Ours, offered as ours. Arabic has two k sounds and treats them as entirely different letters: kaf, made where English makes its k, and qaf, made much further back against the uvula. Words differ by it — kalb is a dog and qalb is a heart. English has no such distinction, so transliteration must choose a convention, and q for qaf is the scholarly one. Quadir keeps it and Kadir does not, and both are the same name.
Meaning
capable, powerful
From an Arabic root meaning to have power or capacity; al-Qadir is among the divine names. The q spelling distinguishes the Arabic qaf from the kaf, which are separate letters and separate sounds in Arabic.
Pronouncing Quadir
kah-DEER
Two syllables with the stress on the second; the q is a k made far back in the throat.

The Brodrick test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Quadir's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Brodrick climbed just as high around 1980, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Brodrick's path sketches the road Quadir is walking now.
Quadir sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

Where Quadir is headed
Quadir should hold steady through 2030 — the curve is flat, and flat curves are the most predictable kind. Its history is short or jumpy, though, so read this as a sketch rather than a promise.
