The story of Oralia
The gold word is unusually productive. Latin aurum gives French or, Spanish oro, Italian oro and the chemical symbol Au, and through Latin compounds it gives English aureole, a golden halo, and oriflamme, the golden flame, which was the sacred banner of the French kings kept at Saint-Denis. The oriole is named from a Latin word for golden. The aurora is the golden dawn. Auriferous means gold-bearing. What is striking is that English took none of these directly as everyday words: gold itself is Germanic and unrelated, from a root about yellowness that also gives yellow and gall. So English has two entirely separate gold vocabularies, a plain Germanic one for the metal and a learned Latin one for everything shining, and the names belong to the second.

Latin aurum, gold
Oralia is generally a Spanish form of Aurelia, from the Roman family name Aurelius, from aurum, gold. It may alternatively derive from Eulalia, well-spoken, by a different route, and the two have merged in Spanish usage. Aurelius was the family name of the emperor Marcus Aurelius. It peaks in the American data in 1945.

The Alvera test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Oralia's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Alvera climbed just as high around 1917, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Alvera's path sketches the road Oralia is walking now.
