Mataya
Feminine
English almost never inserts anything into the middle of a word. It adds to the front and the back freely, but the only real infix it has is the one people use when swearing. Modern naming does it anyway: Mataya inserts a syllable into Maya, and Makayla inserts one into Kayla.

Our story of Mataya
Languages differ in where they let you attach things. English is a prefix-and-suffix language: it puts un- and re- at the front, -ness and -ing at the back, and has essentially no productive infix — the only living example is the expletive that speakers insert into the middle of a long word for emphasis, which linguists study precisely because it is so unusual. Other languages infix constantly; Tagalog marks its verbs that way. Modern American naming has quietly acquired the ability. Kayla becomes Makayla and Mikayla; Maya becomes Mataya and Amaya; Layla becomes Kaylayla in some families. The added material sits inside rather than outside, and the result is still recognizably the original name. It is a small piece of word-formation that the language does not otherwise permit, and naming permits it because names are not required to obey the grammar. Mataya peaks in 2003.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No documented source. Mataya is most likely an expansion of Maya or Taya, or a formation on Mata with the -aya ending. Maya itself has several unrelated sources — Sanskrit māyā, illusion; the Roman goddess Maia; a Hebrew name; and the Maya people — none of which transfers to Mataya. The name has no established reading.

Mataya's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Danne climbed just as high around 1951, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Danne's path sketches the road Mataya is walking now.
