The story of Massiah
Mashiach describes an ordinary act — pouring oil on a king's head at his accession — and Isaiah even applies it to Cyrus, a Persian. The eschatological sense grew later. Greek rendered it christos, which is how Christ became a title. Massiah appears in American records in current use.
Meaning
anointed one
From the Hebrew mashiach, 'anointed', from mashach, 'to smear with oil'. Kings and high priests were anointed, and the word named any of them before it named an awaited deliverer. Greek translated it christos. The Hebrew is documented.

The Dayquan test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Massiah's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Dayquan climbed just as high around 1994, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Dayquan's path sketches the road Massiah is walking now.
Massiah sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
