Our story of Damarion
Our story of Damarion is a story of a naming system. African-American families from the late twentieth century have built given names from a stock of fronts — Da-, De-, Ja-, Ke- — and endings — -marion, -mari, -von, -shawn — producing names found in no other tradition. Damarion, Demarion, Jamarion and Damari all come out of it. It appears in the registers from the 1990s. That workshop is a real history, and inventing a foreign source for it would be worse than useless.
