The story of Logen
In 1774, after his family was murdered by settlers on the Ohio, a Mingo leader named Logan refused to attend peace negotiations and sent a message instead. Jefferson printed it in Notes on the State of Virginia as an example of native eloquence, and the passage, ending with the question of who is left to mourn for Logan, became a set piece in American school readers and elocution manuals through the nineteenth century. Its authenticity was disputed at the time and has been ever since, since it survives only in translation and at second hand. The name itself came from Scotland by way of a colonial official whom Logan's father had admired, so the chain runs from a Gaelic hollow to Pennsylvania to a speech to a hundred years of schoolrooms.

The Rochester test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Logen's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Rochester climbed just as high around 1944, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Rochester's path sketches the road Logen is walking now.
Logen sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
