The story of Keeton
Norse settlers in England kept their personal names for generations, and English place names record them in the thousands: a settlement identified by whoever farmed it, with an English word for the farm and a Norse word for the man. Keeton and Keaton in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire both work this way. The surname followed the place and reached America, and its move into given names is late twentieth century, helped by the -ton ending being one of the most productive in American boys' naming. Keeton's best year in United States records is 2000, and it remains uncommon.
Meaning
Ketil's farmstead
From the Old Norse personal name Ketill, a cauldron or a helmet, plus Old English tun, an enclosure or farmstead. The same ketill gives English kettle and appears as the second element in Thorkell, Thor's cauldron, and as the first in Ketilbjorn. The tun element is the ancestor of the modern word town.

The Boruch test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Keeton's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Boruch climbed just as high around 1983, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Boruch's path sketches the road Keeton is walking now.
Keeton sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
