Our story of Jyaire
Our story of Jyaire is a story of a sound with a possible ancestor. Jairus is a synagogue leader in Mark whose twelve-year-old daughter Jesus raises, and his Hebrew name Ya'ir means he will awaken — which is either a remarkable fit or a coincidence. The modern American name is separate: Jyaire appears in the registers in the 2000s, built from a Jy- front and an -aire back that were both in circulation. Whether any family had the Gospel in mind is not something the record says.

Not established
No settled etymology. It may be a respelling of Jaire or Jairus, from the Hebrew Ya'ir, 'he will enlighten' or 'he will awaken'. It may be a modern American coinage on the Jy- front and the -aire ending. Neither is documented for this spelling.

The trade-off
- The Hebrew Ya'ir behind the sound has a genuinely fitting meaning.
- The end stress gives it a strong rhythm against a front-stressed surname.
- It is genuinely rare and immediately distinctive.
- The descent from the biblical name is claimed rather than documented.
- The stress placement splits between two readings.
- It will need spelling out every time.
