Our story of Javarius
The Roman system had a praenomen, a personal name; a nomen, the clan name, always ending in -ius; and a cognomen, originally a nickname that became hereditary. Only about seventeen praenomina were in common use, so the personal name did almost no distinguishing work, and the -ius name carried the weight. Women were mostly left out of it: a daughter took the feminine of the nomen and was Julia, Cornelia or Claudia, and if there were several they were distinguished as the elder, the younger and the third, or by diminutives. The -ius ending is the piece modern American naming borrowed, because it reads as unmistakably Latin and formal, and it now appears on coinages that have no Roman connection whatever, which is exactly how a borrowed suffix works.

The Nicolo test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Javarius's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Nicolo climbed just as high around 1921, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Nicolo's path sketches the road Javarius is walking now.
Javarius sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
