Our story of Jashawn
Ours, offered as ours. Seán exists because Irish had no j sound to borrow the Norman Jean with, so it substituted its own s and stretched the vowel. Then English speakers, unable to read Irish spelling, wrote what they heard: Shawn, Shaun, Sean. Jashawn adds an American prefix to the end of that chain. The j the Irish could not say has come back around and sits at the front.

God is gracious
Shawn spells the Irish Seán, which is the Irish borrowing of English John, from Hebrew Yohanan. The Ja- prefix is a productive element in African American naming with no fixed meaning of its own.

Jashawn sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
