The story of Jahaziel
In 2 Chronicles 20, Jahaziel the Levite tells Jehoshaphat that the battle is not his but God's and that he need only stand still; the king sends singers ahead of the army and the enemy destroys itself. It is one of the stranger military passages in the Bible. The name appears in American records in current use.
Meaning
God sees, beheld by God
From the Hebrew Yachazi'el — chazah, 'to see' or 'to behold', and El, 'God'. The chazah root gives chazon, a vision, and the word for a prophetic seer. It is a complete statement. The Hebrew is ordinary and the reading undisputed.

The Nevan test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Jahaziel's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Nevan climbed just as high around 2004, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Nevan's path sketches the road Jahaziel is walking now.
Jahaziel sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
