The story of Everette
Eoforheard survived the conquest as Everard, became the surname Everett, and returned to given-name use in nineteenth-century America — helped by Edward Everett, the orator who spoke for two hours at Gettysburg before Lincoln spoke for two minutes. The -ette spelling ran alongside Everett and is in current use.
Meaning
brave as a boar
From the Germanic eber, 'wild boar', and hard, 'brave' or 'strong', through the Old English Eoforheard. The boar was a symbol of ferocity and appears on Anglo-Saxon helmets; the Sutton Hoo helmet has boar figures. Both elements are ordinary and the compound is undisputed.

The Evert test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Everette's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Evert climbed just as high around 1901, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Evert's path sketches the road Everette is walking now.
Everette is on its second act. Revived names age gently: the generation that wore them first is far enough away that the name feels classic rather than dated.
