The story of Elijha
The Elijah cycle in the book of Kings is a sustained confrontation with the cult of Baal, and the prophet's name is a slogan for the side he is on: my God is Yah. The contest on Mount Carmel, where two altars are prepared and only one is answered, is the center of it. At the end he does not die; a chariot of fire separates him from Elisha and he goes up in a whirlwind, and the book of Malachi promises he will be sent again before the day of the Lord. From that comes a set of living customs: the cup of Elijah filled at the Passover seder and the door opened for him, and the chair of Elijah placed at a circumcision. Very few names carry both a theological claim and an open ending.
Meaning
Hebrew Eliyahu, my God is Yah
From Hebrew Eliyahu, built from El, God, and Yah, the divine name, so my God is Yah. The name states the argument of the story it belongs to, which is a contest over which god Israel serves. Elijha transposes the h and a; its peak is 2007.

The Yoseph test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Elijha's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Yoseph climbed just as high around 1986, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Yoseph's path sketches the road Elijha is walking now.
Elijha sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
