Our story of Elicia
Ours, offered as ours. Adelheid produced two names that look entirely unrelated: Adelaide, which kept the shape, and Alice, which lost most of it through Old French — Adelis, Aalis, Alis, Alice. Then Latin scribes re-elaborated Alice back into Alicia, so the name has been shortened and lengthened again over eight hundred years. Elicia is one more turn of that. The Elysian fields are a separate and pleasanter possibility.

noble kind
Alicia is the Latinate form of Alice, from Germanic adal, noble, and heid, kind or sort. A separate reading connects Elicia to Elysia, of the Elysian fields. Neither is documented for this spelling.

About 1 girl in 7,112 born in 2025 was given one of these spellings — against 1 in 51,847 for Elicia itself.
Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method

The Sabrena test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Elicia's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Sabrena climbed just as high around 1967, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Sabrena's path sketches the road Elicia is walking now.

The trade-off

- Read correctly on sight by most English speakers.
- Alicia is the standard spelling and will be assumed and written.
- The stress and syllable count are both unsettled.
- Elicia, Alicia, Elisia and Alisha are all in use and only Alicia is common.
