Eadric was a real Old English name; Eadric Streona was Ethelred the Unready's chief adviser and is one of the most reviled figures in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. The name faded after the conquest. Edrick appears in American records in the twentieth century, most likely reassembled from its elements, and is in current use.
