The story of Diara
Diarra is one of the major family names of the Mande world, carried by the Bambara kingdom of Segou and by a great many people across West Africa today; Mande naming attaches proverbs and animals to such names, and the lion belongs to this one. The American Diara is a different thing: part of the set that grew around Ciara and Kiara from the nineteen-eighties, most of them respellings of each other. Both roads reach the same six letters.
