Diandre
Masculine · “manly”
Diandre is overwhelmingly a boys’ name — 577 boys against 15 girls since 1880.
Two churches have argued for a thousand years about which brother came first. Rome builds on Peter. Constantinople builds on Andrew, who in John's Gospel follows Jesus before Peter does and then goes and fetches him — which is why the Greek church calls him the First-Called.

The story of Diandre
The order of calling is not a trivial point. Each of the two great sees traces its authority to an apostle, and Andrew's priority in John is the foundation of the eastern claim; the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople still uses the title that goes with it. The two churches exchange delegations on each other's patronal feasts to this day. Andrew went on to become the patron saint of an improbable number of countries — Scotland, Russia, Greece, Romania, Ukraine — and the diagonal cross said to be the shape of his execution is on the Scottish flag and inside the British one. The name's own meaning is the ordinary Greek word for a man.

manly

The Rody test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Diandre's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Rody climbed just as high around 1960, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Rody's path sketches the road Diandre is walking now.
Diandre sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- A settled Greek meaning traceable to an ordinary word.
- Three short forms, two of which are full names in their own right.
- The stress pattern is regular and strangers usually get it right.
- Deandre and D'Andre are both commoner, so the spelling will be given every time.
- The prefix carries no meaning, so only half the name says anything.
- The very few girls given this spelling will be read as boys on every form.
