The story of Darcie
The d'Arcys came over with or shortly after the Conqueror and became a substantial English family. The surname moved into given-name use for girls in the twentieth century, helped a great deal by a novel of 1813 in which the male lead carries it — which is an unusual route for a women's name to take. Darcie, Darcy and D'Arcy are all in use, and the Irish line remains distinct.

The Leonor test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Darcie's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Leonor climbed just as high around 1909, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Leonor's path sketches the road Darcie is walking now.
Darcie sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
