The story of Cosimo
Cosmas and Damian were twin physicians martyred under Diocletian who treated the poor without charge; they became patrons of doctors and pharmacists and were venerated across Europe. The Medici took Cosmas as a family patron, and Cosimo de' Medici — Cosimo the Elder, who died in 1464 — established the family's power in Florence and funded the rediscovery of Plato in the West; his great-grandson Cosimo I became Grand Duke of Tuscany. Italian migration brought the name to America, and its peak in 1927 sits at the tail of that wave.
Meaning
Order, arrangement; the universe
From Greek kosmos, order or arrangement, which came to mean both the ordered universe and personal adornment — the same double sense that gives English cosmos and cosmetic. The name Kosmas is formed on it. The reading is settled. Italian Cosimo and Spanish Cosme descend from the Greek saint's name.

The Marvel test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Cosimo's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Marvel climbed just as high around 1907, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Marvel's path sketches the road Cosimo is walking now.
Cosimo sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
