Our story of Breydon
Breydon Water is a broad tidal estuary behind Great Yarmouth, where the rivers of the Norfolk Broads gather before they reach the sea; at low tide it becomes mudflats, and in winter huge flocks of ducks, geese and wading birds come to feed, which is why it is a nature reserve. Breydon, the American name, most likely came from Brayden with a different spelling. But it shares its letters with a wide, wild place.
