The story of Blanch
Blanche of Castile married the king of France in 1200, ruled as regent twice, and was the mother of Louis IX; her name spread through the French and English nobility from there. It was in ordinary English use by the nineteenth century and rose sharply in America in the 1880s. Blanch, without the e, appears in the registers in real numbers alongside it and peaked around 1890.
