The story of Betsabe
Bathsheba appears in the books of Samuel and Kings and again in the genealogy that opens Matthew's gospel, and her son Solomon succeeds David. The name reached Spanish through the Latin Bethsabee and became Betsabé, with the accent that fixes its stress. It is used in Spain, Mexico and Colombia, and it reaches American records with Spanish-speaking families, usually without the accent that American systems drop.

daughter of the oath, or daughter of seven
The first element is settled: Hebrew bat, a daughter. The second is read either as sheva, an oath, or as sheva, seven — the two words are written alike and the biblical world connected oaths with the number seven. Both readings are old.

The Andrena test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Betsabe's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Andrena climbed just as high around 1968, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Andrena's path sketches the road Betsabe is walking now.
Betsabe sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

Where Betsabe is headed
Betsabe should hold steady through 2030 — the curve is flat, and flat curves are the most predictable kind. Its history is short or jumpy, though, so read this as a sketch rather than a promise.

The trade-off
- A documented biblical name with a long and consequential story attached.
- Betsy and Beti are both warm short forms, in two languages.
- Every letter is sounded, so Spanish speakers read it correctly at first sight.
- The accent will be dropped by American systems, which moves the stress to the front.
- The biblical story involves an abuse of royal power, and it is well enough known to follow the name.
- Bathsheba is the English form and looks unrelated to this one.
