Our story of Aylany
Our story of Aylany is a story of an ending that spread through one region very fast. From the 1990s, families in the Dominican Republic and across Caribbean Latin America began building names on -any, -anny and -ani: Dayany, Yulany, Yoselany, Sherlany. They do not share a root; they share a decade and a sound. Aylany joins that group with a front borrowed from Aylin, which is itself Turkish and means the halo round the moon. The American registers pick it up in the 2000s, which is the whole documented history.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No established etymology. The Ay- front circulates from Ayleen and Aylin, the latter a genuine Turkish name meaning 'moon halo'. The -any and -ani endings have been productive in Dominican and Caribbean naming since the 1990s. The compound is a modern coinage.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
