Our story of Alayla
Our story of Alayla is a story of an initial vowel added to an old word. Layla means night in Arabic and is the beloved of Layla and Majnun, a seventh-century story Nizami turned into a Persian epic and Clapton into a song. American naming through the 2010s attached A- fronts freely — Alayla, Aleyla, Alaya. The back half has fourteen centuries; the front has ten years.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
