Our story of Zade
Our story of Zade is a story of a letter and a root arriving at the same place. The Arabic z-y-d root — growth, increase — has produced names for fourteen centuries, and the Persian and Turkish suffix -zade, 'son of', closes hundreds of surnames. At the same time, American naming has been putting Z at the front of everything since the 1990s. Zade appears in the American registers in the 2010s, and the record does not say which door each family came through. Both are real.

growth, increase
The likeliest inherited route is the Arabic zada, 'to increase' or 'to grow', which gives Zaid, Ziyad and the Turkish -zade, 'son of'. A second route treats Zade as a modern coinage on the Z front, in the pattern of Zane and Zayn. Neither is documented for this spelling.
