Xandria
Feminine · “Greek alexein and aner”
The Library of Alexandria was not destroyed in one fire. It declined over three or four centuries through funding cuts, expulsions of scholars and repeated damage, and the single dramatic burning is a story that later writers found more satisfying.

The story of Xandria
The library's end is one of the most confidently reported events in popular history and one of the least documented. Caesar's fire in 48 BC damaged warehouses near the harbor and possibly some books; Aurelian's campaign in the 270s wrecked the royal quarter; the daughter library at the Serapeum was destroyed in 391; and the Arab conquest story dates from six hundred years after the event. What the sources actually show is a long institutional decline, beginning with the expulsion of scholars under Ptolemy VIII in 145 BC, when the library's staff scattered across the Mediterranean. Institutions usually die that way rather than in a single night, which is why the version everyone knows is the one nobody can source.

The Raenell test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Xandria's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Raenell climbed just as high around 1949, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Raenell's path sketches the road Xandria is walking now.
Xandria sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
